In Loving Memory of Sweet Nala

Our dog of 15 years died yesterday. She was put to sleep after suffering for a long time. We got Nala when I was eight years old. She was such a good dog and we loved her just like she was another sibling. She would play hide-and-seek with us, would comfort us when we were sad and was a great vacuum when it came to crumbs on the kitchen floor! It won't be the same at my mom's without her. But it was the best thing for her to go because she was old and in a lot of pain. We love Nala so much. We'll miss you, Poopers!

Preston Demo Derby

What a blast! We went last year to the Preston Demolition Derby with Brody and Traci and had a lot of fun. So Traci asked if we wanted to go again this year. It was last night and we went with them plus Jacque and her date, my sister-in-law's brother, Jeremy. I was a little nervous about how Ethan would be because he is all over the place now and doesn't like to sit still. But luckily enough, he doesn't like big crowds and noise either so he cuddled up to me the whole time. I had to adjust sometimes so I had to move him away from my body. When I did, he would start shaking and as soon as he was close again, he would cling on to me for dear life. It was great! Ethan is not a cuddler so I absolutely loved it. The derby was about two hours long and Ethan cuddled the whole time. It was a lot of fun to see the cars crashing into each other and some even had fire. It was awesome! Before the derby started, we headed down the street to eat at Big J's. Gotta love the tots! After the derby, we came back to our house to play some games with Jacque and Jeremy. We played Apples to Apples and I laughed pretty much the whole time. It could have been that it was way late and also that I was super tired. But we had a great time at our second derby. Hopefully it will become a tradition to go every year. And I even brought my camera!!
Ethan was super tired by the end. But this is how he was the whole time. Just chillin' on my shoulder. Loved it!!

Jacque and Jeremy. This was their first date. I think they make a cute couple :)

Me and Traci

It looks like Brody was having a lot more fun than Brian.

I took like twenty pictures on all different kinds of settings and this is the best one of the cars. Sorry its so dark but you can kind of see how bashed up the back end of this car was.

Our First Camping Trip

Ever! Surprisingly enough, Brian and I have never gone camping together. He's been on plenty of camp outs with his scouts but we've never gone together. That's how long its been since I've been camping. I love to camp so I don't know why we haven't gone more. Oh yeah, Brian works like there's no tomorrow in the summer with QPC. That's why! Well, we finally went this weekend with half my family. The other half couldn't make it but it was a lot of fun with those that went. It rained really bad early Saturday morning so it looked like we might have to pack up and go home but we waited it out and I'm glad we did. We got to stay until Sunday morning. We stayed at Cinnamon Creek in Avon. It was absolutely gorgeous. And leave it to me to forget my camera. I was really bummed I forgot it because the scenery was gorgeous and Ethan was having so much fun being outside all day long. Maybe I'll remember next time!
Saturday, my brother-in-law was setting up a horseshoe game for the kids to play and he hit a water line. It was buried maybe six inches, which is no good. Anyone could have hit it with a simple tent stake. It wasn't pouring out too bad but the guys couldn't find the main water line to shut it off. So Brian and Goose (my bro-in-law) had to go down to Ridley's to get some stuff to fix it. They fixed it in like 15 minutes and all is well. That was the most exciting thing that happened while we were up there, which is great because it was nice to get away from the real world for a while. We had a lot of fun this weekend and I hope we can go more often.

Crawling for Real

This weekend was full of fun and new things for us. Ethan started crawling on his hands and knees. It is so cute the way he does it because it looks like he's just trying so hard to do it right. Most of the time he just gives up and starts army crawling but he's getting much better at real crawling. He also learned how to sit back up after crawling so that's been a problem with naps. He will sit up in his crib but won't lay back down. He's been on antibiotics for the last week for an ear infection so his naps were messed up anyway but now add that he can sit up, he doesn't sleep for long. Also this weekend, my dear friend Jacque came up to stay the night. We spent Saturday shopping with Missy and sweet Abbi. It was so fun to see my Jacque. She moved to Roosevelt for the summer and so I haven't seen much of her at all the last few months. Last weekend wasn't so fun for Brian because he had to work a lot. Hopefully things will slow down soon. Its such a huge blessing he's getting all this work but he's so busy, he is hardly ever home. This weekend we're going camping with my family. I'm excited to get out and have some fun!

Last Five Years

I wanted to reflect on the last five years. I stole this idea from my wonderful friend, Brittney. I can't believe how much has happened in those five years. Its insane to think five years ago, I had just graduated high school and moved up to Logan to start a new life. Five years ago, I met Brian, who I didn't know was going to be the love of my life. I had big ideas back then about where I wanted to be now. I wanted to go on a mission, get my degree in nursing and maybe get married. Its crazy how life takes a different route than what you think. Obviously Heavenly Father had other things in store for me.

Five years ago I moved into my first apartment with the lovely ladies Brittney, Missy, Traci, Emma and Rosie.
I met the love of my life, Brian.
I married Brian after 10 months of dating.
We went to San Fransisco for our honeymoon.
I worked for my brother-in-law, Steve, as a secretary.
Brian got promoted to manager at Standard Plumbing in Salt Lake.
We moved to Kaysville with my mom for 2 months while we looked for a house.
We went to Boston baby!!
We bought our first home in Syracuse.
Brian got moved to the Sandy store.
I went to massage therapy school.
Brian and Jared started QPC.
Brian dropped out of college and hasn't gone back.
We sold our first home and moved back to Logan.
I graduated massage therapy school.
Brian and Jared worked like madmen.
I started taking clomid to try to get pregnant.
I babysat the cutest little girl, Haley.
We went to Hawaii!!
I did 12 months of clomid and four treatments of artificial insemenation but finally got pregnant!
We bought our second house.
We built the entire inside of our house, minus the electricity and drywall.
Brian's brother, BJ, left for his mission to London.
We finally moved in, with most the house done :)
Our little angel baby was born.

Brian started working with Scentinel.
I went to Oregon/Washington with Missy.
We both got really busy callings.
Ethan started crawling.
Heidi got married. Everyone in the Mathison family is now married!
And Brian is still working like a madman.

Our lives have been crazy for the last five years but what an adventure! We are so excited for what the future has to bring.
