Randomness

This blog is going to be full of random stuff but mostly, of course, Ethan. He's been such a little stinker lately. He's been getting all four of his first molars, which one finally broke through yesterday (YAY!!) which means hopefully the other three will come out soon and he'll be our sweet little guy again. He's also learned to count, sort of, and say go. He'll say "Two...two...GO!!" He was doing that the whole way home from Tara's tonight. It was so cute.

He's been into putting on shoes and walking wherever he can with them on. He always puts them on the right feet too. He mostly puts on my shoes though. Not sure why. Maybe they're easier to walk in...
The face definitely goes with the shoes ;)

These are Brian's shoes, not mine. I just loved the way he was posing.

Ethan decided today to rearrange our chairs in the kitchen. He took all the bar stools and moved them here. Then he started clapping for himself when he got done. I couldn't help but laugh and take a picture. He can be so cute sometimes.

He's also learned how to hug. He kind of just caught on one day and started to hug Abbi like crazy. He loves that girl to death. For the first few days, he would only hug little kids but now he's starting to give loves to me and Brian. I am eating it up too. I love it!! Now on to kisses :)

These two have too much fun together. I love it!!!

On to other random stuff, Brian finally fixed/finished our shower. I'm not sure if I've blogged about this before but our master shower hasn't work for more than a couple days since we moved in a year and a half ago. We showered in it for a few days at first then realized it was leaking. So Brian tried to fix it and it still leaked. He fixed it three times before he just ripped up the entire bottom of the shower to redo it all.

I was actually impressed with how fast he got it fixed. He usually takes a while on projects he's working on (ahem the mantel). He got this finished in about three weeks and we have showered in it for three days without any leaks!! I can't tell you how excited I am! And it looks really nice too. The grout looks funny in this picture because it was all wet from Brian's shower he just took.

I probably won't blog before Easter so I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter! Oh, and enjoy this video. It shows how much fun these two have together. So funny!

Poor Ethan!

Pretty much the last two weeks, Ethan has been super cranky all the time. And really sensitive. He has some major teeth coming in, so let's hope they break through any second because he's driving me crazy!! He was okay at church today, which was good. Also, he has done really well with the time change. Its like it never happened. He wanted to go to bed at about 7:30, which yesterday was 6:30 because he did this...

See the fat lip and blood on his nose? It was SOOO much worse than this. This is the shot after I was done freaking out and we put him in the bath to get the blood off him. I was going to take the trash out and Ethan thought I was leaving so he wanted to go with me. He started to chase me really fast. Too fast apparently because he tripped on his own feet and totally face planted on our wood floor. I heard the snap of his fall and ran to get him. He had a hard time breathing, he was crying so hard. He had smacked his face on the floor so hard, both nostrils were bleeding and his whole mouth was covered and full of blood. I was trying to plug his nose to stop the bleeding but he was thrashing all over the place. He got blood EVERYWHERE. I mean everywhere. All over himself, me and Brian. Poor kid was in so much pain. His lip swelled up pretty fast. His mouth was bleeding but also he was getting blood in his mouth from his nose. It was disgusting/horrifying/sad. I finally was able to get his nose to stop so we put him in the tub to get all the blood off and he was happy as can be. Super ornery after he got out though. So needless to say, he went to bed early tonight.

What a happy kid. This is before his teeth started to come in:)

He has figured out how to use his ball as a seat. He has to push it up against the wall to get it to stay though. So smart!

Getting ready for bed. He loves to be all cuddle up, in a blanket with no mom :(

Brian thought it was funny to pull Ethan's pants way up, like an old man! It was.

And this is Ethan's favorite new place. He loves to hang out in our laundry room in one of the cubbies. He is such a stud. I love this kid!

Saddest Baby Ever!

So every morning, Ethan gets up and if Brian doesn't get him out of bed, he goes looking for his da da. This morning was no different, except there was no da da to find. Usually if Brian is already working when Ethan gets out of bed, the door to his "office" is shut. We dropped Brian off at my brother's house last night so that he could go to the airport super early this morning for his trade show. So no Brian. Well, when Ethan got up, he kept saying "Da da? Da da?". I started to take him to the kitchen to get some breakfast when he noticed the door was open. He got all sorts of excited because he thought dad would be inside. I put him down so he could check himself. When he first walked in the room, he was hopeful Brian was just behind something, ready to scare him. But when he searched the whole room and no dad, the water works began. It was the cutest sad face I have ever seen. He looked at me with huge eyes and bottom lip poked out. I told him da da had to go bye bye and he started wailing! The tears, the lip and his arms reaching for me almost got me going. I hate it when Brian is gone and now I have a baby who agrees with me.

What's going on in our lives

Isn't all that exciting. But it is busy. Brian is leaving for Colorado tonight for two days. I hate it when he's gone but he has a job, so who's complaining?? He's also really busy with his calling. He went on a trip a couple weeks ago, then had a camp out this last weekend. Then he's leaving this weekend, and has a camp out in a couple weeks. Not so fun but its good for him to be kept busy.

Ethan is being a little stinker lately, I think because he is getting some molars. His gums are super swollen back there and he's always chewing on the pointer finger of both hands. He has also learned how to feed himself. He is really good too. Brian taught him Sunday and he caught on really fast. He makes huge messes of course but gets most of the food in his mouth. Its so funny to see him become more independent. I am just so used to him needing me to do everything, its kind of nice not to.

I joined Gold's Gym and have gone two days in a row. I would go today but I'm not feeling all that great, thanks to being a woman. But as soon as I do, I'm going back. I feel really good the days I work out. And its kind of nice to leave the house for a half hour with no child. Other than that, our lives aren't that exciting. But I am super excited about one thing-Biggest Loser is back on! Yay!! Love that show :)

So Here's My Problem

I can't get Ethan to drink milk out of a sippy cup. I've tried almost every kind they make, every top, warm and cold. He takes a sip and will throw the cup as soon as he knows its milk. He drinks water and juice from the cups just fine. Its just milk. So I've been giving him milk out of a bottle a couple times a day so he gets what he needs. What can I do to get him off the bottle?? Any of you mothers have fresh ideas, please, I am all ears! Or eyes ;)

Just Being Silly

Here's some super cute footage of my boy. They're not the best quality because they came from my phone. Sorry! I love this kid, have I ever mentioned that?? Enjoy!

He was being so goofy while we waited for Dad to finish his shower so Ethan could take a bath. I love this kid. So funny!

Just so you know, I wasn't shoving his face under water. It would barely touch the water's surface and he loved it. It might look otherwise, but I'm not trying to kill my child.

He's learned to jump recently and right before I started to record, he was laughing so hard. He loves his Grandma and Grandpa's house but especially playing with his aunt Emily. (As I'm playing this video, he's jumping right behind me.)

Pictures, Pictures, and More Pictures

Oh so handsome!

He always seems to smile after the flash.

Got it! SO cute. I love this stud muffin of mine. Oh and his shirt says Stud Puffin, so cute! (Thanks Jo!)

Ya, I don't know what's going on here. Pulling a really awesome face!

Right before his haircut. It looks so much better now. Thanks Heather!

Isn't this the cutest thing you've ever seen? I saw that after his bath and had to take a picture. Such little feet.

Doing his two favorite things in the whole world: reading, and hanging out with his dad.

Again, reading. And that is his favorite book by far. Its called Beep Beep.
Checkin' on dad in the bathroom. He loves his dad!

Just being cute with his boom box.

Ok So I know that's a lot of pictures but he's just so cute and how can I resist? I love this kid so much, even though he's not a huge fan of me most the time. He will tolerate me if his dad isn't there but as soon as Brian walks in the room, get out of his way! He just loves his dad and I love that he does. Brian is such a wonderful dad and who wouldn't love him? Anyway, life is still great here. Brian is doing great at his new job. He hasn't had any sales yet but will soon. He's got a lot of people interested so that's good. We haven't been doing much lately. All the craziness starts this weekend. We have a hot date planned Friday, and a baptism and blessing Saturday with babysitting that night. Lots of fun stuff to do. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

All About Our Lives Lately

Sorry this post is so long. I just wanted to write down everything that has been happening to us lately, especially my little man. Ethan is growing up so fast. He is talking like a madman now. He talks like I should know exactly what he is saying. Sometimes I can tell what he is talking about because he'll add a real word in every now and then. He is getting such a personality. A strong one at that. He gets frustrated now when we don't understand what he wants. The other day, I bought bananas because I know he loves them. He saw them on the counter and stood underneath right where they were and reached his arms up and started saying "Eee, eee!" This is what he says when he wants something. So dang cute but I can't tell sometimes what it is. This time was pretty obvious but sometimes not so much.

Ethan's vocabulary consists of hi, uh-oh, ba-bye, Da, Ma, Oh wow, No no no no, Thank tee or thee (thank you), hoof (which is what a dog says :)), Eee (please), baw (ball), here (when he wants something or is giving you something), and occasionally he'll say papa (grandpa). His signs are water, milk, please, more, thank you (from the cheek, not chin), bye bye, and no no (which is him shaking his finger at me).

Other things he does lately is:
*He'll wake up in the morning and say uh-oh till we go in. If I go in, he immediately starts looking for his Da. If Brian goes in, he's fine and dandy and wants to eat his breakfast.
*He throws fits when he gets frustrated. Its sometimes funny and I look away so that he can't see me smile.
*He climbs stairs like a pro. He LOVES to play on our stairs. I moved the gate to the bottom of the stairs and he could seriously play for hours on those stairs.
*He can feed himself with a spoon, even though it gets really messy.
*He throws anything he can get his hands on up in the air and laughs so hard when he does it. *Still waves bye backwards. It almost looks like "come to me".
*When he wants someone to pick him up, he'll clap his hands twice then reach. Its almost a demand "clap clap, now pick me up".
*He gets super excited when we go to Tara's or Missy's. His two best friends are Clint and Abbi.
*He's doing better with sippy cups. Still won't have milk from them but is great with juice and water.
*He LOVES to read books, especially by himself. He likes to play a lot by himself as well. I try to play with him sometimes and he pushes me away.
*He hides in the cubbies in our laundry room. He thinks it so hilarious when I pretend I can't find him then he pokes his head out and laughs so hard. I love doing laundry for this reason alone.
*He shrugs his shoulders a lot. Whenever he doesn't like the feel of his shirt, when he's walking and is bored walking normal, pretty much whenever he wants. Its too cute!
*He growls a lot. You might think he's getting mad at you but he's just growling and its because he wants you to growl back.
*He's learning a cheesy smile. I tell him when he's sad to be happy and I smile big so he's starting to copy me.
Such a silly little boy! We love him so much and don't know what we would do without him in our lives. Ethan is such a joy to have in our family and we just love him more and more everyday!

Now on to Brian. Brian has started a new job with a company called Spike. He is a salesman for them and gets to work from home. Its fantastic! I love having him home. Ethan, on the other hand, is having a hard time letting his dad work. He will hear Brian on the phone in the extra room and go knock on the door or put his fingers under the door. He just loves his dad so much. But Brian is working hard and is doing really well for only working for a week. He loves being able to wake up at 8:00 in the morning and go to work in his pjs. He said he loves the commute too ;) It is really nice to have a job that we know he will be getting paid and we feel so blessed for Brian to have this opportunity. Thanks Jase for getting him this job.

Now me. Not much to report except that I am doing massages more often. I go down to Kaysville about once a month to work on some fabulous ladies. Its nice to get back into doing massages. There was a time there that I wasn't a huge fan anymore but I'm glad I got back into it. Other than that, my calling and Ethan keep me pretty busy. I love being a mom, despite my other, more recent posts. Our family is doing really well and life couldn't be better!

*Pictures to come, I promise.

Power of Being a Mother

So I have to say, I love being a mom. Ethan is not so much a mama's boy lately but I still take care of him all day everyday and love it. So when he was sick for the couple days he was this week, he didn't act any different except that he wouldn't eat a lot. And the throwing up and diarrhea of course. But I was the one who changed 19 out of the 20 poopy diapers he had in two days. Also the four times he threw up, I cleaned it up. So naturally you would think I would get whatever he had. Nope! I am well and feeling great but Brian is not. He flew out to Colorado to get started on his new job Wednesday night and apparently was incredibly sick all day yesterday. Luckily, it didn't interfere too much with getting everything started. Anyway, he called me last night and he was so sick! Funny thing is Brian was only around Ethan maybe a few hours the whole time he was sick but caught what I'm thinking is the 24 hour flu. Funny thing is, I'm usually the one who gets sick but since I had Ethan, I've been sick once and Brian is the one who catches everything now. The power of being a mother is fantastic. We can withstand almost all illnesses so that we can take care of the babes who get sick, including our husbands :)

Kristy and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Part 2

I'm writing this now hoping nothing else can go wrong. Ethan threw up on me twice this afternoon, once all over the carpet, couch and himself, while my friend Carlin and her little boy were here. I really hope they don't get sick. Then he threw up again but I caught it fast enough that he threw up in the sink, mostly. Honestly, being a mother is really hard work. And it stinks sometimes too.
