So to say our week has been not so great is an understatement. Sunday and Monday were great. Just the usual church and dinner with the in-laws, which is always enjoyable. Then Monday I spent somewhat cleaning and being lazy. Tuesday is a whole other story.
It was my turn to take my dad to his doctor's appointment in SLC, which is fine, I'm happy to do. So since it was Valentine's Day, Brian decided to take off work and come with so we could spend some quality time together and maybe go out that night in Kaysville. Well, the morning started off horrible. Brayden was super whiny and clingy and Ethan did the opposite of everything I told him to do. He also peed everywhere in the bathroom because he didn't sit on the toilet all the way. Wonderful. So by the time Brian got home from his meeting and getting his truck inspected, which failed, I was ready to go!
We headed down, picked up my dad, and got to his appointment with a few minutes to spare. I was happy about that. Then we had to wait. And wait. And wait. His appointment was at 2 but he didn't go back until almost 2:30 then we waited for 25 minutes while he was back there. But Brian was smart and decided to take the boys outside because it was semi warm. Well we get back to our car and Brian had forgotten to lock it. Which normally wouldn't matter because anyone who looks at our car has to know we have nothing of value in it. Someone decided to jump on the opportunity of an unlocked vehicle and stole our DVD players. I was beyond upset. I don't really care about the players themselves but someone stole from me. This is the first time I've been robbed and I didn't like it. They stole from my babies, who don't deserve that. The DVD player is the only thing that keeps Ethan entertained while in the car for 2 hours at a time. Also, it had Toy Story 2 in it, which doesn't make me very happy. I felt very violated and so angry at the dishonest person who took them. It makes me mad just typing this.
That night, we went out. Thanks to sweet Emily who watched our kids. Well, Brian didn't really plan anything and neither did I so we just played it by ear. We went to dinner and did some shopping. Wasn't so bad a night. I always enjoy alone time with my love.
Then Wednesday rolls around. Both boys were whiny and ornery all day. I was super excited to head to the gym that night to have some time to myself. Brayden had some other plans. After I had made dinner, I was sitting on the couch, doing some research on a car when Brayden came over to me with a can that I had used while cooking and thrown in the recycle bin (which has a lid but that apparently doesn't stop him these days). He had stuck his hand in the can, which still had the lid attached, and got his finger stuck. So I tried to push the lid back in so it wouldn't cut his finger. He freaked out and ripped his hand away. Which resulted in a very bad cut. He started screaming and blood was everywhere. I ran him to the sink to wash it out and see if we needed to head to the hospital. When the water hit it, the skin flipped back and there was bone! I started screaming to Brian we needed to leave now, to the emergency room. He grabbed Ethan, shoeless, and we headed to the hospital. I rode in the back, holding Brayden and his bloody finger. Luckily, the Insta Care was still open so we went there instead. It was much closer and we needed help ASAP.
We got in and there were a bunch of people waiting to be seen. I went up to the desk, covered in blood, with my baby who had stopped crying but was also covered in blood. They got us back right away and once the nurse took a look at the cut, which I had a death grip on to stop the bleeding, we went right back to see the doctor. He looked it over and got things going immediately. He numbed his poor little finger and washed it out thoroughly. Then he moved the cut skin. I was looking when he did this and I wish with everything I am that I hadn't been looking. It was the grossest, scariest thing I've ever seen. I saw bone. And everything else. I turned my head and started to cry. My poor baby! I couldn't believe he had been hurt so bad! By this time he had stopped crying and was just cuddling me. He was so brave and only cried when he got the shots to numb his finger. The doctor stitched him right up, 8 stitches to be exact. The doctor said he had never had to do that many stitches on that little of a finger before. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Anyway, he wrapped it up and sent us on our way. Poor little man. I feel so bad for him. He was fine last night when we got home because he was still numb. But this morning was awful. He was in so much pain. It broke my heart. He got happier when we stopped by to see Tara for a few minutes. He also got very happy when his favorite person came by. Grandma Harding can make everything better for this kid. He just loves her so much. Its so cute!
Anyway, I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I need to take him into the doctor to get his finger looked at because it is still bleeding, any time we change the bandage. It starts to pour the second we take it off. Breaks my heart every time. I love that little man so much and can't imagine how painful this whole thing has been for him. I just want to go snuggle him right now! I think I will. Sorry for this very, very long post. And once again, no pictures. I'm too lazy to upload them tonight. I hope you all have had a better week than us!
